  • What will my schedule look like?
    Your scheduled will be based on hours that work for both you and your client, achieving the perfect work-life balance. The best part is, there are no mandatory shifts!
  • What is Self-Direction?
    Self-Direction is a Medicaid-funded program in Wisconsin designed for individuals with disabilities and the elderly. This program allows eligible individuals to manage their own care by directly hiring and supervising their own employees. Through Self-Direction, individuals have greater control over their care services, ensuring that their specific needs and preferences are met.
  • What is the pay?
    The pay varies, as it is determined individually for each client.
  • What are some of the skills needed?
    To be an SDS worker, you need a passion for helping others, excellent customer service skills to meet the member's preferences, a readiness to commit and a drivers license. Experience based on client needs.
  • What will my day look like?
    As a self-directed caregiver you will provide care and support to someone with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or aging-related needs. Self-directed caregivers assist with tasks based on individual needs. Tasks range from daily activities such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, housekeeping, companionship, community errands and medication management.
  • Who will I be employed by?
    As an SDS worker, you will be employed by your member. This means you will not be working for an agency. Your member is your legal employer.
